Railroad Depot Museum

The local perspective

Discover Railroad Depot Museum

The Tomball Railroad Depot at 201 South Elm Street is the heart of downtown Tomball. The museum is housed in the historic 1907 depot, and it contains train memorabilia, original artworks, antiques and two highly detailed model railroad layouts that are a favorite with kids and train fans. The museum is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and tours are free, according to the City of Tomball. Weekday tours are available by appointment, and groups of more than 10 should give at least two weeks' notice. The museum is closed on German Fest Saturdays and the Saturday after Christmas. The surrounding Depot Plaza is Tomball's main gathering space, hosting community events such as Depot Day, the Rails & Tails Mudbug Festival and Deck the Depot. Old Town's shops, cafes and restaurants are steps away, so it's an easy centerpiece for a day downtown.
